Our Lindegaard ancestry:
From Denmark to Spain, England, and France

Laurentze Christine Rindom (1831 - 1902), our common ancestor
Laurentze was born on 31 July 1831 in Ringkøbing, a small town along the Danish west coast. Since the name Ringkøbing means "the market town near Rindum" (a small nearby village with evidence of settlements dating as far back as the 6th century), the Rindom (or Rindum) family must have long resided in the area.
Laurentze first married Peter Hendrik Lindegaard, but was widowed early, with two sons. She subsequently married Jørgen Lindegaard Hvilsted and had five more children with him. Both men share the name Lindegaard, but further research is needed to learn whether they are related. Kirsten, a descendant of the later marriage, suspects they are, based on a closer-than-predicted genetic relationship between her father and Madeleine, a descendant of the earlier marriage. Both her father and Madeleine had utilized the same genetic testing service to learn more about their ancestry, which enabled Kirsten to contact Madeleine.
Later, Madeleine was able to locate, via an Internet search, Doreen, a member of the English branch of Laurentze's descendants, and a researcher, writer, and family historian. The collaboration between Kirsten, Doreen, and Madeleine resulted in valuable insights into their shared family history. These insights are presented on this website, with the hope of sparking interest among other extended family members—whether descendants of Laurentze or those who married into the family.
