Verne became pastor at Marlboro Presbyterian Church in Chicago and started his doctoral studies at the University of Chicago. Read about our life in Chicago here.
Lindegaard - Fletcher Family History
Alice married Verne and they had six children. The posts on this blog will progressively add building
blocks of their subsequent family history.

Our maternal grandmother, Adela Lindegaard Diaz, whom we called "Mamie", came from France to help out with the children. While with us, she kept a notebook (in French) of funny things we said or did. That notebook is transcribed here.
Alice made a first series of papier-mâché puppets for her children in 1959 in Chicago. She would put on shows in the kitchen for them and their friends.
With Jean at the helm, the children put together their first newspaper, which appears here in abridged form.
That year Jean was boarding and studying at the Collège Cévenol in Chambon-sur-Lignon, France, while the rest of the family was back in Indonesia for one more year. We spent Christmas in Bali and the sisters put on a play for their parents, a Balinese version of the adoration of the shepherds, authored by Madeleine and inspired by Shakespeare...
This map (drawn at the time by Madeleine) shows the itinerary of our travels in the summer of 1969 (June 23 - July 30) from Indonesia to Lebanon, via Cambodia, Thailand, India, and Iran. One can be sure Verne packed in as much sightseeing as he possibly could along the way!
